From 15-17 April 2015, a group of postgraduate researchers from Queen’s University Belfast, Durham University and Newcastle University attended a three-day symposium on working with archives at The Wordsworth Trust, Grasmere. The symposium gave Postgraduate Researchers in a variety of disciplines across the Arts and Humanities the opportunity to dialogue with Early Career Researchers, Curators, Archivists, and those working in the Museum sector.
Sessions included insights into online archive projects, the importance and challenges of literary museums, researching outside the UK, and curating exhibitions. We were also given the opportunity to find out more about taking research beyond the confines of the academy, and to develop our own outreach project in association with the Wordsworth Trust.
We would like to thank all those who attended and shared their knowledge with us. Particular thanks go to Jeff Cowton MBE, Curator of the Wordsworth Trust, and Michael Rossington, Professor of Romantic Literature and Northern Bridge Academic Director at Newcastle University for making the symposium possible.
